First, the maps show fish habitat suitability (in %) for the beginning of the observational period (1970s for the North Sea and 1990s for the Baltic Sea).

Second, they illustrate decadal changes in habitat suitability due to climate change, expressed as percentages relative to the initial suitability. These maps also include climate projections for habitat suitability in 2050.

Third, the maps present future scenarios of fish distribution (in tons) for 2050, based on three possible scenarios of future stock biomass (high, mean, and low) for each species.
